Exciting Plans for 2017
A Feast of Fun, Food, Art, Music & Heritage
Our crab and lobster festival is a lively weekend celebration of two fine North Norfolk coastal towns, Cromer & Sheringham. Historically great rivals, but now joining together as two of Norfolk's premier seaside destinations to create a friendly and entertaining weekend event. The festival is dedicated to promoting our local seafaring heritage and active fishing community. Our small boats launch from the beach and brave the North sea in all weathers to bring home delicious crabs and lobsters for your delectation!
We believe this is the only two town Crab & Lobster Festival in the country. With a full programme of activities and events in both towns - it's a packed weekend! The fun starts on Friday night with a traditional seaside variety concert at the Famous Pier Pavilion Theatre, Festival events continue in Cromer on Saturday and Sunday, and there's a full day of events in Sheringham on Sunday too. Visit both towns to taste their unique character & experience the full Festival effect.
Charity Grant Fund Beneficiaries
The Art Trail Auction is one of the highlights of our year. All profits go to local good causes, and so far we have distributed over £38,000. This year £5000 was divided between a wonderful bunch of local charities and organisations.
The organisations who received grants were: The Cromer Mardlers, Sheringham in Bloom, Back to the Drawing Board, Sing Your Heart Out, Ladybird Pre School Nursery, Playing for Cake, Love for Leo, Sheringham Museum, Banningham Defibrillator Fund, Cromer Christmas Lights Volunteers, 1st Cromer Sea Scouts, Friends of North Lodge Park, Cromer RNLI, Waveney Stardust Trust, National Coastwatch Institution – East Runton, Cromer Academy, Cromer Exhibition Foundation, Sheringham Woodfields School, Cromer Carnival Security Team, Sheringham Playpark Revamp, Roughton Under 5s Playgroup, Cromer Girl Guiding, Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society, Cromer and District Garden Society.
The Festival is run entirely by volunteers from both towns, their aim is to make each Crab & Lobster Festival successful, memorable, fun, entertaining and informative. It's such a wonderful way to get together and celebrate our way of life here... and a great opportunity to encourage visitors to come along and enjoy what we have to offer. We aim to keep the Festival as a free event for all the family, but ask visitors please to contribute to our bucket collection.
Funds raised go to support local charities and good causes, and to create future festival events.
